Who is it for? Men or women with skin types 1-5 (white-Asian) who want to permanently reduce the appearance of unwanted hair on virtually any part of the face or body.
Benefits: An end to waxing, shaving, electrolysis and other repetitive time consuming methods. A safe and effective unisex treatment ideal for the reduction of unwanted hair on almost all areas
How it works: The broad-spectrum light is applied to the surface of the skin by way of a hand-held wand. This light travels through the skin until it strikes the hair shafts or the bulb (root) of the hair. The bulb is usually where the highest concentration of melanin is located, as opposed to the rest of the hair shaft. As the light is converted to heat energy, the bulb and most of the hair shaft are instantly vaporized. At any one time, not all hair follicles are ‘active’, and only active hair follicles can be affected and destroyed by the treatment. ‘Inactive’ hair follicles can be treated as they become ‘active’ over time. For IPL treatments an average of 6–10 treatments are required to remove most visible hair.
The procedure: A consultation and patch test will determine if this treatment can be performed on you. Certain skin conditions, health irregularities and medications can impact on whether it is safe to receive a light based hair removal treatment. If there is no reaction following the patch test then the treatment can commence after 7 days. Due to the hair growth cycle, each session is carried out 4 -6 weeks apart.
Aftercare: It is important to follow the post treatment guidelines including using the SPF screen daily
